This story began with an Instagram DM.

Although Nick and Michaela had met while playing ultimate frisbee (which is not the same as disc golf) in Nebraska, it wasn’t until Nick had the courage to direct message Michaela one night in 2021 that turned them from acquaintances into something else.

Their first date, a stroll across Bob Kerry Bridge in Omaha, was a wonderful success and definitely not filled with nervous energy from both sides.

A couple months later, Michaela got a job in Denver, Colorado, and the two decided to give long distance a try. Through phone calls, Teleparty™, and some cross country travel, they survived living apart for over a year.

Finally, the distance closed and Bubbs (below) was thrilled to gain another set of hands to pet him. Nick and Michaela continue to keep the habit of calling each other whenever they get the chance.

On January 28, 2025, Nick proposed to Michaela at Holmes Lake in Lincoln. Their love, which will be celebrated at Roca Berry Farm, is devastating to their haters.
